Youth Services Section

The purpose of the Youth Services Section is to promote improved library service to the state's children and young people by providing opportunities for its members to increase their understanding of the library needs of children and young people, their knowledge of materials and services, their awareness of current issues that affect and interest their patrons, and their working skills as facilitators of the educational process and as specialists in public libraries and schools. It also fosters cooperation between school and public libraries in the state.

Next Youth Services Section Meeting

Please join the Youth Services Section for an illuminating workshop with Jessica Clark (Anderson County) and Ashley Silvera (Collection Strategist, Richland County)  exploring the lasting impact of inclusive and culturally accurate storytelling. Authentic and diverse representation is a cornerstone of Youth Services in public libraries, but what does that mean? This workshop is a thoughtful and intentional discussion of the lasting impact of children's literature and librarians' role in providing mirrors, windows, and doors for children and teens to explore.
